🌍 Dating in Africa and beyond
African dating that starts with shared values
Africa is a continent of more than fifty countries, thousands of languages and a huge range of traditions, and so is its diaspora. Whether you live in Lagos, Nairobi, Casablanca or Calgary, Heartwave helps you meet people who share what matters to you, and talk to them comfortably even when your first languages differ.
Values come first
For many people, family, faith, community and ambition shape what they want in a partner far more than a photo ever could. Heartwave is built around that idea. Your Heartprint scores four parts of who you are from 0 to 100: communication, lifestyle, values and social energy. Values carry the most weight in your compatibility score.
Every profile shows that score and a Chemistry Check, which sets out where you are in sync, where you are different and which interests you share. It gives you something real to talk about from the first message.
English, French, Arabic, Portuguese and more
Across Africa and its diaspora, many people move between several languages in a single day. Heartwave translates the messages you receive into the language you choose, in 23 languages including English, French, Arabic and Portuguese. The original message always stays visible underneath, so nothing is lost and you can enjoy the words as they were written.
So someone who writes most naturally in French can chat with someone more at home in English, each reading the other in their own language. Translation does not yet cover languages such as Swahili, Yoruba, Amharic, Zulu or Hausa, so for those the original message is shown as written.
Show who you are
A profile on Heartwave can hold photos, short videos, a voice intro and prompts, each with its own caption. Hearing someone’s voice or seeing them laugh in a short clip often says more about their warmth, humour and style than any list of facts.
Circles let you join groups around the things you love, from music and food to faith and sport, while Live and Stories let you share your day as it happens.
Privacy and safety for everyone
- Location by area only: the Map places people in squares about 11 km across, so nobody sees your address.
- Calls without your number: voice and video calls with matches happen inside the app.
- Checked media: new photos and videos stay hidden until they pass a safety check.
- Optional verification: a selfie compared with your main photo adds a verified tick, and the selfie is then deleted.
Before meeting someone new, DateGuard lets you note where and when you are going and sets a check-in time as a reminder to tell someone you trust that you are fine. It does not contact anyone for you, so share your plans with a friend yourself.
